Transporting paper safely – advantages of securing loads of paper, waste paper, and cardboard with Sander strapping and Sander edge protection
It is the responsibility of the driver and the shipper to ensure that paper transports are carried out safely and without risk. Proper load securing is therefore essential for every paper transport. With Sander load securing, paper transporters can be 100% sure that the edge protection and strapping used are tear-resistant, stable, and functional.
Advantages of Sanderband® for securing paper loads
- Sanderband® is a flexible and soft thread-structured tape that protects delicate paper from cuts.
- With a tensile strength of up to 2000 daN, the flexible Sanderband® is six times lighter than steel belts, but at least as tear-resistant.
- Sanderband® is tied with a knot or closed with a tension buckle and is particularly user-friendly for shrinkable packaged goods such as paper.
- Sanderband® is available in various standardized designs or can be custom-made in our state-of-the-art machine park in terms of running meters, width, and branding.
- The appropriate Sanderband® accessories, i.e., buckles and tensioning tools, are also available directly from us.
- Sanderband® is weather-resistant.

Checklist: What are the basic considerations for transporting paper?
When transporting paper, there are a number of factors that ensure the load arrives safely. Below are some important basic safety instructions:
- Paper, whether transported on pallets or in rolls, must not slip during loading. Therefore, suitable and flawless load securing measures should always be used. In addition to Sanderband® and Sander edge protection, anti-slip mats, air cushions, and wedges are also recommended as additional aids.
- When loading the transport vehicle, the load distribution plan must always be taken into account and the paper must be distributed accordingly. Overloading must be avoided at all costs.
- When loading paper in a form-fitting manner, it is important that the front wall of the transport vehicle is sufficiently stable. Lashing straps may only be omitted if there is no risk of the pallets tipping over. Pallets that are stacked on top of each other
must also be lashed down appropriately, even if they are loaded in a form-fitting manner. - The straps used to secure the load must be capable of being retightened, as they can stretch when lashing down paper
or the paper itself can shrink. - Drivers of transport vehicles should ensure that they drive defensively on the road
and do not take any risks by driving too fast.
